The show will air weekly on Sky Comedy from September 1, but you can stream the entire series at once on Sky Q or NowTV, for non-Sky customers. Last month it was announced that the show had been nominated for three Emmy Awards including Outstanding Variety Sketch Series as well as nominations for directing and guest actress for Bassett. It premiered in the US in late 2019 to critical acclaim, with a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while HBO has also renewed the series due its success. The show's main cast features Robin Thede, Ashley Nicole Black, Gabrielle Dennis and Quinta Brunson alongside guest stars including Angela Bassett, Laverne Cox, Kelly Rowland, Jackée Harry, Issa Rae, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Yvette Nicole Brown to name a few. It's notable for its numerous firsts including the first all-black women writer's room, led by Lauren Ashley Smith, the first black woman sketch director (Dime Davis), and the first sketch series cast composed entirely of black women. Seeking to address the failures of the comedy landscape and entertainment industry to include vital voices, this narrative series is set in a limitless magical reality full of dynamic, hilarious characters. The show, which consists of comedy sketches performed by a main cast of black women will premiere on Sky Comedy and NowTV on Tuesday, September 1. The acclaimed and groundbreaking series A Black Lady Sketch Show is finally heading to UK screens.
